Sustainability Project, California Drought
Objective
The goal of this infographic campaign is to raise public awareness about the deteriorating state of water in California’s lakes due to prolonged drought, agricultural runoff, and climate change. Many of these lakes—once recreational and ecological hubs—are now shrinking, contaminated, or drying up altogether. This campaign seeks to inform Californians about the urgency of the issue while encouraging conservation and policy support.
Design
The infographic will feature a vertically scrolling visual journey titled “Where the Water Went”, combining stylized lake maps, before-and-after satellite views, and key statistics (e.g. water levels, salinity, biodiversity loss). A cool, desaturated palette with warm accent colors will symbolize depletion and urgency. Layered iconography and brief narrative callouts will guide the viewer emotionally and intellectually, ending with actionable steps (water conservation, support legislation, community initiatives).
